What is laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal is the safe and effective permanent removal of hair using our Candela Gentlelase Pro laser hair removal machine.

Is it painful?

Laser hair removal is usually not painful. You may experience slight discomfort but generally clients report that the treatments are comfortable and pain free. The Candela Gentlelase Pro U is a cutting edge machine and emits small bursts of Cryogen to help cool the skin when the laser is active.

How much does it cost?

The price of the treatment depends how many areas you want to treat and the number of sessions required. Over the long term laser hair removal is actually less expensive than other hair removal options such as waxing as it is a permanent solution. You may be pleased to know that we offer a variety of payment options to break up the cost of the treatment.

How long will it be before I am hair free?

This depends on a number of factors although as a general rule 10 treatments is usually sufficient to permanently remove virtually all the hair follicles in a given area.

Can anyone get it?

Laser hair removal is not suitable for everyone. Factors like hair colour, skin tone and medical history can influence how suitable an individual is for the treatment. By booking in for a consultation we can determine your suitability for the treatment where many factors are considered.

How does it work?

Put simply, the laser we use destroys the hair follicles in the area it is targeting and as a result those hair follicles cannot produce new hair growth. Not all our hair follicles are at the same stage of growth which is one of the reasons multiple sessions of laser hair removal are required.

What is an Alexandrite laser?

The Alexandrite laser is the fastest of all laser hair removal types. Our treatment is a dry treatment because of the Candela GentleLase unique cooling system. As the laser operates, short bursts of cryogen cool the skin making the treatment more comfortable. So the good news is that there is NO sticky cold gel applied during the treatment.

I have had laser hair removal treatments in the past, can I still come to Laser By Marilyn?

Absolutely! Just because you have had sessions elsewhere does not mean you cannot come to Laser By Marilyn for further treatments or 'top up' sessions. In fact we would be delighted to help you continue on your laser hair removal journey.

Is the use of a laser machine regulated?

Yes, in Northern Ireland it is a legal requirement to be approved by the Regulation & Quality Improvement Authority (RQIA) before offering laser hair removal services. We received our approval to practice on 6th October 2022 and adhere to the high standards and requirements set out by the RQIA.
